Therapeutic Rambling

This is an attempt to make sense of my life and order of my cluttered mind. It is also intended to be a journal of no particular interest to anyone, a record of events and non-events that occur in my life.

Cleanse

I am compelled to offer my opinion, even though no one wants to hear it.

These diet places that suggest a "cleanse" to start the weight loss process are perpetrating a scam.

First, physiologically, the colon does not need to be cleansed. It is a mucus producing organ, which means that the walls of the gut continually make mucus, which carries any crud away with it. Stuff simply does not stick.

Second, starving yourself slows your metabolism. This makes it harder to lose weight when you start eating again. Which keeps you reliant on their food plans and counseling.

Hmm... I smell a scam. Bottom line, follow sensible diet plans and bump up metabolism with increased physical activity. Or live with what you got.

Ok, I'm done. No idea why I felt the need to produce this diatribe but I did. I'm off to drink wine.
